Port Speed Vs Line Speed

Solution:

Most of the companies offer Dedicated Servers/VPS Hosting with port speed as the selling point of their network.

However, it is important to understand the difference between port speed and line speed.

Port Speed:

Port speed is the rate at which you can upload or download data to and from your VPS. It means the physical port speed capabilities, like the LAN card of the server or router maximum capacity of transferring data. It can be full duplex or half duplex, typically 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 10 Gbps.

Line Speed:

Line speed is the maximum speed of the line connected to your server provided by your service provider.

It is always good to have higher port speed than the line speed.
