SQL Server is available in various editions. And each edition comes with a different version.
Let first understand the different edition of SQL Server :
There are other SQL editions available such as the SQL Developer version which allow you to install and test your application in testing mode.

Who needs MS SQL Enterprise?
The enterprise edition of SQL Server competes against enterprise-oriented systems like Oracle Database (DB), and MySQL.
Enterprise Edition (SQL Server EE) for mission-critical applications, enterprise business intelligence, and data warehousing.
SQL Server Enterprise comes loaded with various features and can be too expensive for smaller-sized companies to maintain.
That is the reason Microsoft, offers SQL Server in some different editions with limitations.
MS SQL Standard
This has fewer features than Enterprise when there is no requirement for advanced features.

Who needs MS SQL Standard?

Who needs MS SQL WEB Edition?
If you have an application that is a web-based application, like a mobile app that can access DB through a web URL or you have a .net-based website that connects to MS SQL, then you can use WEB Edition.
MS SQL EXPRESS
MS SQL Express Edition is the open and free version of SQL Database.
This is the most used database edition in SQL types, due to obvious reasons (It’s Free).

Who needs MS SQL Express Edition?
SQL Express Edition is good if you are using a simple application that requires an easy DB function.
The developer needs to keep the 10 GB database limit in mind for the SQL Express edition.
